There was recently an earth quake in California.  I live in Oakland and we had some of the worst damage.  It was about 4 o’clock in the morning when I woke up to the room shaking.  In the past, the room would shake for about 15 to 20 seconds and then things were calm again.  Not this time.  The shaking got worse and everything started to fall.  The pictures fell off the wall.  My glass kitchen table shattered all over the floor.  My plasma T.V. crashed from the wall into the floor.  I was so panicked and thought it would never stop.   My daughter wasn’t home.  She was visiting her dad a couple towns away.  I tried to call my ex-husband but the phone lines were dead.

After all the chaos, the important things were ok.  My daughter was safe.  Everyone in my apartment building was safe as well.  And I later heard on the news that there were no fatalities.  Thank goodness.  But just about everything in my apartment was completely ruined.  I had renters insurance that would cover about an eigth of the damage.  I was responsible for the rest.  Obviously, not everything needed replacing.  I could live without the knick knacks that were collecting dust for years now.  But there were ceratin things that would need to be replaced.  I needed some fast cash to get my life back in order.
